When I was walking on the street, an excuse-me-sir-give-me-some-spare-change man was there and said "Excuse me, sir, give me ten cents!" to me. I ignored as usual in the Japanese way: We don't say "Sorry" or anything, we just ignore those people in Japan. Then he came in front of me, the direction that I was going to. I kept looking down, but the man looked into my face saying "Ten cents! Sir!". So I simply naturally said "ちょっと英語わかんないんで".
Then the man gave up, and started mimicking me by saying weird words like "Dang-dang ding-ding dong-dong" LOL
I should speak English (or French) in this country, but I know many English teachers who never speak Japanese in Japan. So it's even :)
